Just like an ICE vehicle, the range of an EV varies between make and model.

However, according to the latest WLTP figure, some EVs can go up to 453 miles on a single charge - and this performance is improving all the time. All pure electric vehicles can comfortably drive around 100 miles before they need recharging - that’s from London to Portsmouth, or London to Leicester.

Range is also influenced by a variety of factors, in the same way as with an ICE vehicle. These factors include driving conditions, weather, load, tyres etc.

Again this depends on the vehicle make & model, but most manufacturers offer an eight year or 100,000-mile warranty for EV batteries.

There are a number of reasons which make EVs really fun to drive. Not only will you notice how much quieter they are when driving, but on the whole they are also better to handle too, due to the fact that their heavy batteries are mounted in the chassis creating a low centre of gravity! Electric vehicles also provide instant torque from zero revs, making them extremely fun to drive. And finally the regenerative braking when easing off the accelerator, which feeds energy back into the battery adds to their efficiency.

Put simply, yes. Unlike petrol and diesel vehicles, electric vehicles don’t have multi-speed gearboxes.

Although we all know not to mix electricity with water, when it comes to EVs there’s absolutely no extra risk of driving in the rain or a lightning storm - they are just as safe as a petrol or diesel car. EVs also undergo the same rigorous testing and meet the same safety standards required for petrol or diesel fuelled vehicles.

You will need to calculate BiK figures dependent on the specific vehicle as the figures will vary with CO2 and P11D differences.

The government has approved a change to driving licence legislation designed to make it easier for people to use electric vans. The new rule came into force on 24 July 2018 after a consultation a year earlier and is designed to make it easier for manufacturers to sell alternative fuel vans in the UK and take the hassle out of applying for more complex licences. Essentially, it means van operators can drive a heavier-than-normal van with a conventional driving licence – providing it’s powered by something other than petrol or diesel.

Motorists with a Category B licence – the conventional type you get when you pass your car driving test – are already allowed to drive most normal vans that weigh no more than 3500kg; however, the new legislation allows Category B licence holders to drive alternative fuel vans that weigh up to 4250kg.

But there are some conditions. Category B licence holders are not automatically allowed to drive the vehicles in question. Before they can get behind the wheel of a heavier alternative fuel van, they must first complete a minimum of five hours’ training at the helm of such a vehicle with a registered instructor.

The Department for Transport (DfT), which is responsible for the legislation, stipulates that alternative fuel vans must be powered by “electricity, natural gas, biogas or hydrogen or [a combination of] hydrogen and electricity”. Basically, the new legislation applies to vans that are not powered by petrol or diesel and weigh between 3500 and 4250kg. Batteries that power electric vehicles are heavy, so it’s often difficult for manufacturers to fit them to LCVs and keep the weight beneath the traditional 3500kg level. They also need to factor in an acceptable amount of weight allowance for carrying cargo.

Vehicle leasing involves entering into a contract hire agreement, where you do not own the vehicle.  You will pay an initial rental payment, followed by fixed monthly rentals to lease the vehicle for the duration (term) of the contract hire agreement.

The lease is provided by KINTO UK Limited. Contract hire is a convenient option if you do not wish to own the vehicle at the end of the contract hire agreement.

Monthly rentals are fixed and include servicing at an authorised Toyota or Lexus Repairer.  At the end of your contract hire agreement, you simply return the vehicle.

• Fixed monthly rentals.
• Choose the duration of your lease with options from 3 months to 48 months (vehicle availability depending), with a 1000-mile monthly mileage allowance.  If you exceed the agreed mileage, an excess mileage charge will be payable at the end of your contract hire agreement.
• Pay an initial rental equivalent to the value of either 1, 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly rentals.
• Full maintenance cover is included in the contract. No large final payment at the end of your contract agreement.
• Your contract hire agreement is designed to run for the full term.  If you wish to terminate the agreement early, an early termination fee will apply.
• Return the vehicle at the end of your contract agreement – no vehicle depreciation risk.
• 14-day cooling-off period.

Key risks of contract hire:

• At the end of your contract hire agreement, the vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was initially hired out, subject to fair wear and tear and agreed mileage. Our representative will assess the vehicle in line with the current British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association Fair Wear and Tear Guide.  Any items outside of this acceptable range will be charged.
• If you exceed the agreed mileage, when you return the vehicle, an excess mileage charge will be payable at the end of your contract hire agreement.
• If you fail to make the payments under your contract hire agreement, you may have to return the vehicle or it can be repossessed, legal proceedings may be commenced against you to recover sums that you may owe, and your credit rating may be adversely affected.
• Your contract hire agreement is designed to run for the full term.  If you wish to terminate the agreement early, you will be required to pay an early termination fee.
• You will not own the vehicle at any point.

Contract hire differs from other finance options such as Hire Purchase or Contract Purchase in several areas. Contract hire is a non-ownership option, offering a full contract maintenance package for your vehicle as standard.

As vehicle contract hire includes all scheduled maintenance, MOT, tyres (fair wear and tear only) and vehicle excise duty for one fixed monthly fee. You will be required to  insure the vehicle, and add fuel or charge the battery if it’s an electric vehicle. You remain responsible for any penalty notices you incur whilst driving the vehicle.

For your convenience, you can have the vehicle you desire delivered straight to your door on an agreed date.

KINTO Leasing contract hire agreements are available to UK residents aged 25 or over, and are subject to affordability and status.

You have the right to cancel your contract hire agreement within 14 days of signing, without giving any reason.  This cooling-off period starts the day after the day you sign the agreement.

To cancel, you can either email us at lease@kinto-uk.com or write to us at KINTO UK Limited, Building 1000, Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 3EN.  You do not need to use a form; you just need to make it clear, in writing, that you wish to cancel the agreement.

After the initial 3 month minimum term, you have the option to end your hire early on giving us 30 days’ notice.  However, please be aware that early termination is subject to the payment of an early termination fee.

No, you cannot extend the contract hire period. Please note that if you would like to rehire the vehicle at the end of your contract, you will be asked to sign a new hire agreement.

No, the mileage selected when choosing the vehicle must remain the same throughout the period of the contract hire agreement.

If you exceed the contracted mileage, you will be charged excess mileage at the rate of £0.18 per mile over the agreed limit, payable at the end of the hire term.

If you exceed the contracted mileage, you will be charged excess mileage at a rate of £0.18 per mile over the agreed limit, once the total mileage is verified by KINTO. If you use fewer miles than the contracted allowance, you will not be reimbursed for the under mileage.

You are unable to swap vehicles during your contract hire agreement. If your circumstances change and you need to change vehicles, you will need to end your current hire by giving 30 days’ notice and paying an early termination fee.

If the vehicle alerts you that it requires a service or other maintenance, you must contact KINTO on 0808 175 4368. If KINTO identifies the need for additional maintenance, you will be contacted to organise a service with the dealer (this is included in your monthly rental).

No, there is no deposit when booking a KINTO vehicle through the website.

You will, however, need to pay a chosen “Initial Rental” equivalent of 1 to 9 monthly rental payments.

There is no joining fee with the service.

The delivery and collection fees are included in the monthly rental cost and there is no additional charge.

No, KINTO vehicles can only be driven within the United Kingdom.

As the driver,you are responsible for all PCNs (parking) and RTOs (speeding fines etc.) received that relate to your contract hire and your use of the vehicle. PCNs will be paid by KINTO to prevent them escalating in value and will be recharged to you. Any RTO's will be transferred to you, at which point you can challenge or pay the fine.  Please be aware that if we pay any fines and charges on your behalf, you may not be entitled to later dispute or challenge the validity of the fines and charges with the issuing authority.

Please note that an administration fee will be charged for processing or transferring liability of a PCN or RTO.

Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)

PCP is a flexible ownership plan designed to get you into the vehicle that best suits your needs and budget. PCP comes with the following end of agreement options – upgrading to a new vehicle, keeping the vehicle, or returning the vehicle.

• If you want to keep the vehicle at the end of your finance agreement, you will need to pay the GFV (also known as the Optional Final Payment).  Only once this has been paid, will the ownership be transferred to you.
• If you exceed the agreed mileage and choose to return the vehicle, an excess mileage charge will be payable at the end of your finance agreement.
• If you fail to make the payments under your finance agreement, you may have to return the vehicle or it can be repossessed, legal proceedings may be commenced against you to recover sums that you may owe, and your credit rating may be adversely affected.
• The vehicle is likely to depreciate in value during the life of your finance agreement.

Hire Purchase (HP)

HP is a convenient way of financing when you want to own the vehicle at the end of your finance agreement.  Your payments are fixed for the length (term) of your finance agreement.

Key Features of HP

• Available on new and used vehicles.
• Fixed monthly payments.
• Choose a term that suits you. No need to decide on annual mileage as there are no mileage restrictions.
• Put down a deposit percentage of the vehicle price to suit your budget.
• No large final payment at the end of your finance agreement.
• Own the vehicle at the end of your finance agreement once all payments have been made.

Key Risks of HP

• Ownership of the vehicle will be transferred to you once all payments under your finance agreement have been made.
• If you fail to make the payments under your finance agreement, you may have to return the vehicle or it can be repossessed, legal proceedings may be commenced against you to recover sums that you may owe, and your credit rating may be adversely affected.
• The vehicle is likely to depreciate during the life of your finance agreement.
